Front Office Dental Associate

We’re looking for a Front Office Dental Associate who thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting and brings positive energy and professionalism to every patient interaction. As the first person our patients meet, you'll set the tone for their entire experience—from check-in to check-out. You’ll help us stay organized, compassionate, and committed to high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet all visitors and patients, creating a positive and professional first impression.

  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, assists with answering phones, scheduling appointments, and collecting payments.

  • Updates patient records and documents. Performs general office duties, such as electronic records, photocopying, emailing, scanning, and faxing

  • Confirms upcoming dental appointments (schedule/reschedule/cancel appointments). Effectively communicates with the front and back office regarding patients’ needs.

  • Ensures dental procedure codes are accurately entered into the database. Closes out the end of the day and the money drawer, ensures office cleanliness, and maintains a professional reception area.

  • Assists with the administration of grant funded programs, including TennCare and VA Medicaid benefits.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED (required)

  • Prior dental front office experience (required)

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Job description

Dental Assistant – Full Time

Are you a Registered Dental Assistant with a servant’s heart looking to make a meaningful impact? Partner with Healing Hands Health, a nonprofit, community-supported, Christian clinic, and use your skills to serve patients who might otherwise go without care. We deliver high-quality dental care to underserved individuals across Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia – with compassion and purpose. Dental assistants should be well-organized with great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to help make the office operate as smoothly as possible. This position will be 36-40 hours per week. It is Monday through Friday approximately 8 am to 5 pm with an hour lunch break. Most Fridays will only be a half day of work.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients to the dental office

  • Prepare patients for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort

  • Select and set up instruments, equipment, and materials needed

  • Sterilize instruments according to regulations

  • Assist the dentists through 4-handed dentistry

  • Undertake lab tasks as instructed

  • Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions

  • Keep the dental rooms clean and well-stocked

  • Schedule appointments

  • Maintain accurate patient records

  • Properly chart patient information and coordinate with front office staff to be sure Medicaid can be properly billed and that preauthorization is performed when necessary

Skills

  • Proven experience as a dental assistant

  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods

  • Understanding of health & safety regulations

  • Good computer skills, knowledge of Eaglesoft is a plus

  • Previous experience caring for adult Medicaid Patients preferred

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Well-organized and dependable

  • Registered Dental Assistant in the State of Tennessee preferred

  • Maintain CPR certification and Continuing Education Credits
